Science 2

*Required Grade 10 OR General Biology

*1 Credit

*Biology: genetics, ecology, evolution

*Chemistry: properties of matter, energy, chemical reactions

Students will explore the nature of scientific study and the relationship between science, society, and technology while learning the basics of biology and chemistry.

General Biology

*Required Grade 10 OR Science 2

*1 Credit

*Prerequisite: Science 1

*Basic microscope techniques

*Limited amount of dissection

*Study of human impact on the environment

*Areas of study include: cells, evolution, animals, genetics, and the environment

General Biology is the study of living things. Course experiences will help prepare students for higher level science classes as well as acquaint students with its application to science and technology.

Anatomy & Physiology

*Grades 11-12

*1 Credit

*Prerequisite: Science 1 & Science 2,or Science 1 & Gen. Biology

*Respiratory, circulatory, digestive, integumentary, lymphatic, urinary, and skeletal

*Includes study of common diseases and disorders of the body

This course is a study of the structure and functions of the human body. Related careers are explored and studies are enhanced through the dissection of animal tissues and organs.

General Chemistry

*Grades 11-12 (2nd  semester grade 10 with permission)

*1 credit

*Prerequisite: (Physical Science and General Biology) or (Science 1 and Biology)

*Geometry, Advanced Algebra recommended

*Studies matter and its changes

*How matter interacts in complex systems in medicine, agriculture, electronics, and most other sciences

Chemistry is required for admission to most colleges and all technical degrees require one or more years of chemistry.
