General Biology
(post-secondary track)

¨       Required Grade 10 OR Science 2

¨       1 Credit

¨       Prerequisite: Science 1 (or Physical Science)

¨       Basic microscope techniques

¨       Limited amount of dissection

¨       Study of human impact on the environment

¨       Areas of study include: cells, evolution, animals, genetics, and the environment

General Biology is the study of living things. Course experiences will help prepare students for higher level science classes as well as acquaint students with its application to science and technology.


Science 1

¨       Required for Grade 9

¨       1 Credit

¨       Earth science: weather, geology and plate tectonics, space

¨       Physics: objects in motion, energy and thermodynamics

Students will explore the nature of scientific study and the relationship between science, society, and technology. This course investigates the physics theme of energy and its impact on Earth processes.
