| Introduction to Business and Marketing: |

9-12 ¨ Semester ¨ 1 Credit The goal of Introduction to Business and Marketing is to enable students to understand and apply general business, marketing, and entrepreneurship principles. Business and Marketing is on of the major areas of employment in the United States. It accounts for nearly 1/3 of all occupations. Introduction to Business and Marketing covers a variety of entry level topics to encourage future interest in other Business and Marketing courses. Some of the topics cover include: overview of business and marketing careers, what is business, starting a business, types of business ownership, bringing a product to the marketplace. promotion, and basic financial literacy. The students in Introduction to Business and Marketing are strongly encouraged to belong to and participate in DECA (An association of Marketing students) and/or FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). The course is graded by: daily homework, tests, projects, and class participation.

The goal of Marketing is to enable students to understand and apply marketing, management, and entrepreneurship principles. Marketing is one of the major areas of employment in the United States. It accounts for nearly 1/3 of all occupations. Some of the topics covered include: Promotion, pricing, selling, economics, product development, e-commerce, logistics, marketing information management, investing and more. The students in Marketing have an opportunity to take a field trip to Chicago, listen to guest speakers, participate in the operation of the school store, perform sales presentations, select and track their own stock portfolio and organize the Colossal Cookie Contest. Students are strongly encouraged to belong to and participate in DECA (An Association of Marketing Students). The course is graded by: daily homework, projects, tests, and class participation.

course is for students interested in global marketing and related cultural
influences and provides students with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes
to succeed in marketing or a global marketing career.
